Description:"Animal Figure" by Samuel (Sam) Ash, signed in syllabics, acrylic on paper 14"x16". Overall the painting is in very good condition but there is some discoloration from mat burn on the versa from previous framing. Now has archival backing board and archival hinging and frame. Born Ojibwa in 1951, he was adopted by a Metis couple after his mother died during childbirth. Ash began painting at age 6 when he went to the Ontario School for the Deaf in Belleville. Some of his paintings are in The Canadian Museum of Civilization in Hull. He now resides in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. His art is very sought after by native art collectors.
