Vancouver painter, author, and teacher who was influenced by Emily Carr and later studied in London, Paris, and New York. Shadbolt was a prolific artist who used colour and abstraction to depict natural subjects and emotional feelings. His paintings are in a number of major galleries in the west and are an integral part of the National Gallery of Canada. He remains a west coast favourite.
