After
leaving the army in the early 1960's, Stephen Outhouse worked as
a carpenter and labourer. His relief painting are painstakingly
carved into wood and
painted with the up most detail in the buildings and boats. They are a
wonder to see as you seemingly are able to reach into his carved
paintings. Recently
he has started carving whales and birds. His work is in collections in
The Art Gallery Of Nova Scotia and The Museum of Man. A very talented
and refreshing
folk artist.
