Lise Gervais studied painting at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts de Montreal
under Stanley Cosgrove. For 16 years, she taught art at Concordia
University. In 1983 and 1984 she was elected President of the Cousel
des Artistes
Peintres du Quebec. Her paintings are steeped in the traditions
of the Automatistes. Her refreshing reckless style with the brush
was very influenced by Paul-Emile Borduas.
