Born in Birmingham, England, in 1923, Geoffrey's career as an
artist spanned more than fifty years.
At an early age Geoffrey showed exceptional artistic talent and won a scholarship
to study art at the Birmingham College of Art. Later he studied at the London
Central School of Art. He was inspired by the perfectionist painters of the Dutch
and Flemish schools and influenced by the great realist painters of our time.
One of Geoffrey's paintings was chosen to be reproduced for Queen Elizabeth's
Annual Christmas card in 1954. Geoffrey and Joan Rock emigrated to Canada and
raised their three children in Victoria, British Columbia.
By his own admission, he became fixed on the subject of each
new work with such intensity, the result was most intimate and
detailed. This senior British Columbian
had achieved broad critical acclaim across Canada and abroad for his uncompromising
realist painting.
